Knowing there is no stiffener inside the rudder I can see how its main strength is the thickness of the shell. Where thick goes to thin is a stress point and that is where mine "failed." Since both our rudders were built towards the end I don't know if our problems will or have occurred on earlier rudders which may have a different core.
