I had him make it up of mahogany, and include the tiller. It is not the same profile as the originals, and does not follow the taper of the wineglass transom. I wish it had the original shape, there is much less area on this blade, but I won't ever need to worry about it taking on water! The bottom of the blade is fitted with a thick brass shoe to guard against damage if the rudder is grounded, and all of the hinge hardware is stainless.

(she looks a bit filthy in this photo, taken after a summer in the slip last year, but she cleaned up well.)
