In Response To: Galley Water Pump/Fawcett Replacement (Bill Anderson)

The original equipment Whale foot pump on our boat was not working. Turned out that the bellows and related pumping "stuff" was rotted out. Doing some investigating it turned out this this model of wWhale had long since gone out of production and rebuild kits were no longer available. Rather than spend close to a hundred dollars on a replacement foot pump, we opted for a pressure electric sytem for about $40 from Defender. We use the same plumbing, but put the small electric pump in line at the water tank outlet, it screwed right into place with a little teflon tape. The power goes to a toggle switch at the sink to which I added a rubber boot to make it waterproof.
