In Response To: 100% Jib? (Dave R 1980 C27)

An older C27 that has been rigged with a 100% jib, non-roller furling, on a self tending jib boom. Looks like a small version of an Island Packet if you have seen the advertisements for those outfitted the same way. The sail lives on the boom with a sail cover on. There is a very short track and a sheet of sorts. If my memory serves me, Hoyt makes it. I have only talked with the owner briefly about it, he did not rig it that way but purchased it used. He seemed pleased, but as I said we did not talk very long about it.

The only question I have about this is why not use what you have? Mark the sail with a 100% line and only roll it out that far? It would not be self tending but using only a 100% jib should still be easy. That would allow you to have the full headsail in light air.
