Not being a racer at all though, if the boat is moving through the water I'm usually pretty happy.

Another thought, talking about short handing. Would you put the 100% on your furler or use hanks? Not using the furler would bring up another issue of having to go on the foredeck to lower and capture the sail. Older folks like Keith and myself like furlers for that reason. Keeps us in the cockpit out of the water..
