Thanks for reading this plea for help.
My main halyard won't raise the main sail the final 12" at the top of the mast.
Here are the facts and clues so far:
1) Without the sail attached, the halyard goes all the way up just fine. 2) We have inspected the track on the mast and there are no obstructions. 3) Taking a loose car from the main sail, it can be raised to the top of the mast. 4) Sometimes, at the dock, the mainsail will go all the way up with no trouble. 5) Then later out on the water, it reverts back to the stuck mode, and won't raise the final 12" up the mast.
What could be causing this intermittent problem?
Any and all input to this mystery is welcome!
Thanks,
-Rick Powers, Palo Alto, CA
