Chalk

Chalk is the method that I use. I use the chalk that you can buy at the hardware store that is made to fill a carpenter's chalk line. Sprinkle it around the suspected leak area and then spread it around with your hands until you have a consistant coating. The water will leave obvious trails through the chalk, and you can trace it back to where it started. It is a bit messy, but it works great, and cleans up easily with water and paper towels.
