In Response To: How to Replace Jib Halyard Sheve Pulley? (Rick Powers)

I replaced mine while the mast was down (with the boat in the water and the mast head about 3' beyond the transom.) I ran into the same problem so I did end up removing the pin for the forestay. Not that big of a deal though for me.

Are you climbing the mast or going up on a crane of some sort? If the latter, you could rig a temporary forestay that doesn't need that attachement point. You might be able to press the main halyard into service for this although you might need some sort of extension to reach the bow of the boat.

I want to go sailing tomorrow, too but right now it is snowing--expecting up to 8"--and the boat is on the hard. Good luck and post some sailing pictures for me.
