Report: outside forum guidelines

In Response To: Report from up on top of the mast (Rick Powers)

I had to hammer several pins out too. Really had to whale on a couple of them. You have a cover on top? Must be a newer boat. If you want to minimize your efforts, I suggest you get rid of the cover (WD40 or drill) and replace the sheaves from the top. It's still a lot of work including the cleanup of corrosion for work up the mast. Otherwise if you take the mast down and seeing you have corrosion, I'll bet your mast step will be welded to the mast and that leads to another bunch of problems. My mast step tore away from the cabin top along with the wiring.
