I have no direct experience with the plus, but from every thing have read, it looks to be a good choice. The less stretch in the halyards, the better! The plus seems to be a bit lighter, and sassuming it splices the same as the X, splicing is simple.
I use 5/16" for all three halyards, and it works great with the factory sized sheaves. The newer technology lines are much stronger than the old dacron cordage, so no worries there.
