In Response To: How to install Teak Handrail in V-berth (pic) (Rick Powers)

I have never made the modification you are talking about, but I would probably drill from the inside, into the deck, but NOT through to the outside. Then, epoxy some stainless steel threaded inserts into the holes. Then you can drill all the way through the handrails and use machine screws to fasten the hand rails. This will be stronger than wood screws, and will leave the outside deck untouched. Good Luck!
