In Response To: How to install Teak Handrail in V-berth (pic) (Rick Powers)

think about the internal handrail that's in the main cabin. these rails were mounted through the deck with screws. you are planning to pull a lot a weight against the vee-berth rails and, for my money, they should be fastened through. you could go through and instead of using a screw, you could use a machine screw from the deck, open the rail inside and fasten with a washer and nut. you already have tons of fasteners going through the deck and, if properly mounted, they don't leak.
