In Response To: plywood (allen)

Perusing the internet, I am unable to find anyone who sells thin NON plywood boards in the thickness I need, which is somewhere between 1/4 and 3/8 inch for my hatchboards. Perhaps I am not looking hard enough.

When I bought the boat about 3 years ago, the hatchboards were in excellent shape (one of the only things on the boat in excellent shape, as you can see from my other posts ). They were nicely varnished, but unfortunately we didnt keep up with the varnish, so we decided to strip it and re do it. After stripping it, and then NOT redoing it (some other more important project always came up) the plywood really fell apart.

So I am wondering if I were to use marine grade teak plywood and put a thick varnish on it that we maintain, would the boards last.
