Changing Transmission Fluid

Hi everybody,
Does anybody have any tips for changing the transmission fluid on the M18 with Hearth Transmission. I can see the drain plug (bolt) on the bottom of the pan but there doesn't seem to be enough room to get a container or funnel underneath. I thought about taking it out of the fill hole but am worried that if I don't get it all, that when I refill, I might be mixing two different types of fluid (Type A vs. Dexron III). I don't know what the previous owner had used (if any!).
Any help, techniques or tips would be appreciated.
