I am just finishing up the same project.
The mast plate, which we had custom made by Ballenger Spars, is bolted the same way as the original.
First, be aware that it is a huge and expensive undertaking to tabernacle the mast. I had a very hard time finding someone who could, and then would, do the job. There seem to be a lot of liability issues, and great stories of lawsuits
I eventualy did find a great guy, and the mast does tilt forward and come back like it is supposed to. And it is only a modest fire dril to accomplish same - at least the only time I have done it - we still are not quite done.
But there's only one way to get under the bridge, and this is it.
Second, I am really glad I didn't try to do it all myself, as it is complicated and requires a lot of skill and thought - lots of problems that can't be forseen, or that I just wouldn't have thought about. And a lot of professional skill to execute.
The consequences of screwing up are huge.
This wasn't a project that I wanted to turn out "like I did it myself".
Write directly, and I can share the details.
