Following up on an old thread, I have installed an aluminum plate on my C-27 to reinforce the mount for the outboard. I originally put a plate on the inside and the outside of the opening, but discovered that this made the transom too thick, by about 1/8". That was fun. 3m 4200 adheres much better than I imagined it would. One more thing that I learned - the opening is not centered on the hull. That is why the lazarette drain hole is offset. In any event, I am attaching 2 photos. I can provide a drawing to anyone who would like one. Pick a CAD format or PDF. Note that the lower interior plate had to be removed, after the boat was in the water, to allow the 1985 Johnson 15hp outboard to mount. Ooops! I seem to be able to use only 1 photos - I'll post a follow up message.
