I also have an 82' and when we got the boat the galley foot pump was broken, since it was all but glassed in there was no real way of replacing it. The PO had installed a small electric pump...want water turn on switch. I took out all the lines, bleached the tank, relaced the lines and added a real pressure system. I also added a second Bladder tank to starboard of my fuel tank. I rebuilt the galley and added a faucet/shower, also added a faucet/shower to the head. When I cut out the orignal galley foot pump I added a small set of drawers in its place. If you really need to remove the tank it will come out if you remove the bulkhead aft of it.

We use bottled water for drinking and use the tank for cooking and washing.
