I'm considering doing a repower, and I just chanced across a page from a new-ish electrical engine company, SolidNav, showing how they repowered a catalina 27 with an electrical engine. (Link below)
Of course it all looks amazing, and if you go to the SolidNav site, they claim that the cost for the system is only $4600, but there's the usual caveat about battery capacity -- the array of batteries they suggest as a minimum only gives 3 hours at hull speed.
Personally, I might be interested in giving it a try if an onboard generator could keep up with the engine needs, but my impression is that this would require one monster of a generator...? Also, this company is a new one, and it might be out of business in a year for all I know. I wonder who the most established of electric boat engine companies are?
