My boat also has mid-boom sheeting. I've got the arched traveller though with no controls for the car. Moving it means getting up to the traveller, pulling the pin on the stop and moving that. Most of the time I just leave it centered. The mainsheet is adjusted as needed. I know that one can often get better performance by pulling the car to the windward side but, usually, I don't care that much. If I'm single handing, I'm not going to be racing. As long as I can make the boat move, I'm happy.
If I were going to single hand the boat often, I would lead the mainsheet aft to a cleat on the port side. I'd also set some cam cleat on the sides behind the steering pedestal for the jib sheets.
I have wondering about rigging a club for the jib to make it self tending. If it could be mounted in the right place, It could remain attached when furling
