Hi catboat friends,
John e-mailed me with a question today, and I can't answer it. When he pulled the boat out of the water, there was some water in the area around the centerboard truck access (under the step). I told him about that when we first visited about the boat, even "passed on" the sponge and small bucket that Russ had given me.
Well, after sponging that area out, with the boat on the trailer, it still is accumulating water in that area... with the boat not in the water. I didn't have this situation, so I don't have an answer for him. Anyone here run into this, and if so, what was the cause?
My first thought is that a scupper line is leaking... holding water when it goes on the trailer, and then allowing it to run to the low point. By design, it should run out the transom when it comes up the ramp.
I'm stumped, but told him I would do all I could to help him get to the bottom of this. I want him to have a fun ownership of this boat, not have to mess with chasing down gremlins.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Best wishes, Jim
