Another Question About Anchoring.....

Report: outside forum guidelines

Our Compac 27 had the anchor on its roller quite far away from the stem. However, the Sun Cat roller only extends, what?, about 10 inches beyond the stem. When I retrieve the anchor I have to lead way over the bow to try to avoid hitting the gelcoat on the bow and chipping it. Haven's succeeded in a couple of instances in really rough water.

I was wondering whether some kind of guard could be mounted over the stem to reduce damage over the years. Or, in the alternative, is there some ingenious way of retrieving the anchor without being close to taking a header over the bow?
