... was a limiting situation. Turn the rudder any more than allowed by that opening, and it will be nearly broadside to the flow. By turning the rudder and the motor together, the SunCat will rotate in not much more than its own length. I did miss the ability to stand while steering, but I did use my leg to steer from time to time (standing while motoring, and leaning on the boom for balance). I could definitely see where a tiller that could hinge up would make for extra room in the cockpit when at anchor or dock.
The end boom sheeting would have the advantage of opening access to the cabin, but is there a problem with the sheet catching on the motor? I know other catboats have had that problem.
Nice that you can tweak these boats to make them fit your situation.
