I am purchasing a gaff rigged Picnic Cat for a friend (yea.. he's paying) and went out for a sea trial today. I was very disapointed in the manner the gaff did not raise up through the sail slot towards the top of the mast. Upon closer investigation, I found what I considered to be a severly deformed goose neck fitting on the gaff. It appears that this fitting is bent in such a way (top to bottom) that when upward lifting pressure is applied to raise the gaff, this fitting digs in to the sail track. It was obvious to me that the gaff goose neck fitting was deformed and needed to be replaced but then again I need some help in this area. Is this a design flaw? anf if so, is there a work around? So, if any of you have a gaff-rigged Picnic Cat I could sure use a little insight as to what make this and easily rigged boat and could really use yor comments. Thanks in advance. Bill
