tension that I can see. While raising the sail, I balance the boom on my shoulder... the boom is also purposely held up slightly by the lazyjacks. I haven't been able to raise the sail at the slip because this infernal rain -- or excess wind -- keeps flowing/blowing. I'm still in a wait-and-see mode to see what happens with the extra spray of SailKote the other day. Until the weather breaks, I can't do a thing.
I'm not running out and buying a winch just yet. I merely get excited and rush to the WM catalog on any lame excuse. Was talking sailing with my pharmacist this morning and he has a perfectly good one-speed winch from his other boat that he'd sell to me for $20 or $30. But first I need to see if the Sail-Kote spray up high on the mast track did its job. Then I have to check for possible burrs.
