Hi -
I just bought a Sun Cat and had a wonderful time on the boat for the first outing (and received quite a lot of compliments). Wind was light but that might not be a bad thing for the first trip out.
I have tried to get this question answered elsewhere without luck and was hoping someone here might be able to help.
What is the best way to use the rudder and engine together? Keep the engine straight and steer by rudder? Pull the rudder all the way out of the water (versus pinning it up at right angles...which seems the only way to pin it up) and steer by engine? It seems that if I hold the engine straight and steer by rudder, or don't pull the rudder all the way out of the water and steer by engine, the prop will hit the rudder.
Also, if I wanted a spare part (rudder bolt) any ideas where I can pick one up?
Sorry for all the questions but I have been a power boater (Sea Ray 260 DA) and this is my first sailboat (though I sailed with my Uncle growing up).
Take Care, Bob
