mighty interesting. I've used dehydrated "substances" before, and just suffered the dull taste or lack of fully rehydrating... always too chewy. This website sounds promising. I'd like to try it and skip the extra work of packing
Do you have a 12-volt outlet on your boat? While cruising during the day I plug in my small fridge/cooler which holds drinks, fruit and simple-to-cook meat like hot dogs. At night when the air is cooler, I unplug the fridge to save the boat's batteries. After a couple days, I have to get to a shore outlet to recharge the electricity. Once I cruised with no plan in mind. I had to throw away some food on that trip. If I know ahead of time that I won't get to shore power, I eat the perishable items first and then work my way toward stay-fresh-on-their-own foods... dry cereals, cans of soup, bread, crackers, etc. I have the Magma BBQ in the lazarette with an attachment for the boom gallows stanchion but I've only boiled water on it so far and warmed up soup. I haven't grilled on it yet. My idea of a fine meal is cheese & gourmet crackers, grapes, and wine.
I've been known to drag a bottle of wine behind me in the water for cooling... used to do that with my Sunfish.
