I normally do not use an ice chest and only a have one of those cheapie one-burner propane stoves. That means I boil. While expensive, I like Mountain House products and MREs. Contrary to popular opinion, MRE does not stand for Meals Rejected by Ethiopians but Meals Ready to Eat. They are actually pretty good. Throw in an occasional can of chili and some crackers and I'm good to go.

For cold mornings, instant oatmeal mixed with raisins and/or nuts work fine. I only eat two meals a day while sailing and settle for an apple and trail mix for lunch.
