I've lived here in Florida for several yrs. Travelled every inch of the state by car and our RV Bus. Done the entire coastlines by boat. I have a different view. First off I think charging off to the Keys is a waste. I say that even though I have a perfect place to explore the Keys from; My cousin owns a very nice marina in Key Largo.

I would be more inclined to hook up with a group which explores the whole states waterways in small boats. The West Coast Sailor Squadron. Their founder and president is a regular on the main board. every weekend and holiday during the winter season, they are off going somewhere. Google them Up they have a Yahoo address which they use as a regular posting place.

If U want to REALLY gert laid back, then U should explore from Naples to Sarasota on the West Coast. Pine Island Sound is one of the really great cruising grounds to be found anywhere.

Marathon and that part of the World comes alive in the winter, the prices change, there lots of Snow Birds and it gets conjested.

U could spend an entire yr. just exploring the St. Johns river and the little nooks and crannys and Marina's. This is REAL Florida. Same goes for Tampa Bay and the surrounding area.
