Report: outside forum guidelines

It's gray and chilly out this morning. Even seemed darker than usual when I walked Captain. Winter has returned. Apparently. My mood is totally matching.

During wedding planning discussions the subject of footwear came up and a massive argument ensued. I think white boat shoes will be appropriate. The dress is floor length. We're on a boat. Mom thought that was tacky; she was mortified I even suggested it.

I don't get it. Called Russell for reassurance. "If I'm wearing boat shoes and you're wearing boat shoes..." "Boat shoes won't go with a tux." "You're wearing a tux?" "I'm not?" "What? I wasn't going to make you, I know you hate ties n suits..." "Maybe we'll talk about it later." Since when does he ever get dressed up, since when does he do it willingly? Is it a full moon? "Igotepoxycomingouttamixingmachineforthedinghyloveyoubye." Dinghy? Another? Ok.

I also wanted to cut down on florist costs by carrying a lantern instead of a bouquet. Not only would I be able to keep it forever, it would probably be cheaper. A bouquet, even dried, won't last long (consider who I'm marrying). Mom shot this down then went into a tirade about how tacky I've become.

Lisle called this morning (from our old boatyard, was pretty much like an extra dad to both of us, friend of Norm's, helped Mark Milam out with White Caps' mast after the lightning strike). Possibly headed to Rwanda, his wife has an interview. Would spend one month with her, two months back in Louisiana working on Libertad the container-eating steel ketch. I can see in my mind's eye Libertad sitting in Peryton's old slip at Del Ray, Peryton in Parrotise' old slip, just as we left them. It seems silly to miss boats as much as people, but I do.

Business friend of Rusell's Dad's is looking for a person of pathetic drafting skills to help out part time. Would allow me to live near (with) Russell. Likely a big cut in pay. But some benefits. Job A: drafting, very little engineering, far away from Russ. Job B: drafting, very little engineering, with Russ, pay cut. Sorely tempted. Would be giving up any pretense of Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering; the pretense is the only thing I've got going. (Did I shave my legs and get my Masters for this?) I already feel like I've got useful hard-won information oozing out of my ears like some slime.

My Dad will be in Seattle this weekend for a Conference. Driving up Saturday to have dinner with him. Mean to bring up the seasick & phenergan scopalamine stuff. Have Ginger and Gingersnaps in spades now.

It's been one of those periods where you don't seem to be able to do anything right, and everyone around you seems annoyed with you or willing to make you feel weird n unacceptable. Even Captain seems vaguely ticked off. Hope it passes soon. I think it's time to reimmerse myself in designing sailboats that won't get built.
