Coming About Problem

Report: outside forum guidelines

I am sailing a 15' Marshall Sandpiper. In brisk winds (13 knots) I was having problems coming about. Things would go fine but then I would end up in "irons".
Where was I going wrong? I had a wind coming from the southeast. When I was heading west, that is when I had the problem. When I was heading east, I had no issue.
I am a relative newbie to this wonderful sport of sailing so any feedback would be appreciated.
