I can get the throat halyard to within about 8 inches of where it should be. If the wind is light and steady enough, I walk up to the mast (something I'm not fond of doing when singlehanding), tug at the throat halyard, and the sail goes up the rest of the way. It's sailable without the extra fuss of going forward, but I love the sail properly full and sans wrinkles. It's damn majestic (I have windjammer fantasies). So with the 2:1 change there is some improvement... about 10 inches' worth!
Had week-long visit from New Jersey friends and they didn't want to go sailing! Also, frequent thunderstorms popped up on the "good" weather days. Usually, our skies look pregnant with rain, weatherman says 70% chance, and nothing happens. So I never let the "looks" of the sky affect my decisions.
