Any hints on raising the sail on my 2005 suncat? I seem to have a hard time getting the throat halyard to lift the boom high enough to clear the gallows. Only when I really tighten the gaff halyard does the boom lift enough to clear the gallows. That fine going upwind but doesn't seem to give much adjustment if I wanted to loosen the gaff for a downwind run. I try to keep the two booms horizontal on the way up but still end up pulling like crazy on both halyards to get the necessary lift. As a catboat novice I'm also scared stiff of an accidental jibe (especially in these shifty lake winds in Vermont)So I tend to sail on a broad reeach rather than risking running downwind. Am I too paranoid?
