For the average beachgoer, this Labor Day holiday was perfect in the northeast....lots of sun, not much wind and not freezing cold....
However, the sailing season appear sto be rapidly closing on us up here and we wanted to take at least one more trip to make paying mooring fees for this year seem a logical way to dispose of our money....
Where has the wind gone? This is the third weekend where winds that normally average 20 knots have disappeared whenever Simba raises her gaff. It was a long day.....13 hours of boat time of which 11.5 hours was spent underway....of which a least 6 hours required the engine to pucka pucka around 4 mph. Seat cushions are a necessity for anyone over 40 methinks.
We did eventually get to our destination and caught a good look at Sen Kennedy's schooner 'Mya'. See the video..she is a great looking boat.
And of course we thank those folks living south of Washington DC for sending up the Great White Sharks that are terrifying our kayakers near Monomoy Island...yeow...those teeth are big they say....seems we have an overabundance of seals on the island this year....
Hopefully this won't be our last video, however, mornings and sunsets are getting chilly up this way....the inflatable needs more air each time we use her.....the fleece and sweatshirts came out of the storage locker this weekend on board...brrrrr....we can feel the pain of hauling coming on....
But not just yet!
