When you have it all perfect, you'll have and old Herreshoff America that won't sail as well as a less old Horizon Cat. Lot's of people found the outboard in the well to be problematic. Sure, most people (other than Tom Ray) buy the Horizon Cat with the inboard 'cause the outboard makes it look less "yachty." Hutchins made lots of improvement in the America after they bought the molds. As for trailering, the boat was a half-ton more than the Sun Cat, so its single axle trailer probably would not carry the weight. From the Tred Avon Web site: The Horizon cat started life as the Herreshoff America, designed by Halsey Herreshoff and built by Nowak and Williams. The Hutchins brothers of Com-Pac yachts bought the tooling and redesigned the boat to fit it into their family of shoal-draft cruising yachts. The hull form remained the same, but they added a shallow keel and centerboard, and modified the deck and rig. This handsome hull is made even better-looking on paper by Bruce Bingham's skillful and playful drafting. We don't hear much from Bruce these days, so it's good to see him being published once again." So I suspect the keel is deeper and would not fit the Sun Cat trailer for that reason. So buy a used Horizon Cat and find someone to make you a flag sail!
