Bottom paint is for below the waterline. The guy on ebay had some "Brightsides" top coat paint, which is what I got. I used the prekote primer then 2 coats of paint. I used a quart of paint to paint my CM21. That gave me enough for 2 coats, plus I had to "spot repair" on area I screwed up and have a little more left over for touch up. I sprayed mine and thinned it with 216 thinner. Hope this helps, Jeff
