Jake... I found and read your story about Waldo Lake and it's a good thing you thought about using the rope to hold up the keel. Where did you get your new cable and did you have the end pressed on? I think I read that 1/4" stainless is the right size. No, I don't have a kickup rudder yet, but I plan to make one this summer. Do you have one? I've saved some plans and pictures of them. I think it would be fun to sail together at Waldo in August and we should keep in touch. I'm going to look up some more information about it. I have several things to do on the boat before sailing this spring like the keel cable and all the rigging. I also want to put a battery in it and wire some lights and a bilge pump. What year is yours? Mine's a '72.
