Sorry if I lost you.
First top of the mast where your headstay attaches, the center of that hole on the stay is your starting point to measure from. I refer back to getting the mast up and verticle, prev post.
The other end is a threaded end called a swage that is crimped on the stay. This is the measurement you want to know. "is the end of the threads on the bolt that goes into the turnbuckle".
Now if you could visualize your turnbuckle that is supposed to be attached to this swage, is attached at the bow plate and backed out (as I mentioned the 75% or 1/2 inch left on it) what is the distance to make that up that you are short?
That's you goal.
My headstay bow plate has three holes to adjust from. You want to use the closest to the mast if you have multiple holes for your measurement. I was at my farest holes before I had my stays shorten. They stretch over time.
You mentioned having to use additional turnbuckle to get you mast up. If you were OK with the tension you achieve, extrapolate that measurement to add to your current lenght of your headstay.
Couple of things to know, what is the lenght of the barrel on the turnbucle you have. Current lenght of the treaded end of swage and also the other end that attaches to the bow plate. The shorter of the two is your maximum adjustment. Also the size ie 5/16 and so on
One question Vince...is the headstay shorter than the aft to begin with?
Wish I could do more for you. I'm surprised that the CM26 guys haven't jumped in to help. My first conclusion is your ship was pirated and given a look alike for some stuff. I haven't checked you mast specs either.
Keep plugging away, ask enough questions and solve the mystery of life. BTDT and at least I keep my friends amused albeit I could be mantoring about with a 5lb maul with a insane look in my eye.
Keep me posted. If needed email me and have pics ready so I can take a looksee. 25Feb to 20Mar I'm gone to Bali
