I too was curious about those two holes to the left of the companion way. Seems the original owner had replaced the original instruments as they began to fail with neat little glass portholes.

I believe that the original boats had a compass and a speed instrument in these two locations.

I found that a Sunto Compass from West Marine fit perfectly in the opening. Below it I still have the little porthole...nice when your all snugged up in the boat to be able to see what is happening in the cockpit.

Counting the days till Spring...We can move into our slips April 1...Happy Clippering !
