At the present time the weather is still too cold to play with the mast. Currently my boat is tarped which allows me to crawl inside with some warmth and do small maintenance tasks, or to pretend I am out sailing. I'm also working on a sliding hatch cover like on Mike Laine's boat.
Based on your info then I don't need to use the front stays, but instead can use my forestay to attach to the gin pole or A Frame, and the full shrouds attached to the spreaders are what keep the mast from falling over. Sound correct? Thanks for your help.
