For those of you considering painting..... Using oil based paints provides an excellent and durable finish but takes forever to dry. Be patient. Don't use "Japan Drier" to speed up the drying process. It certainly does speed up the drying process but if you read the fine print you will see it says "may cause yellowing". I can confim that fact. If I had it to do over again, I would have taken the extra effort to clean the bare surfaces and never painted. Once painted, always painted, you will be painting forever. That's my 2 cents.
