Congrats Rob, on your new aquisition! I also bought a 26 clipper that was sitting at a dock in a marina at tampa bay for 5 years. Luckily there was no water in it, nice and dry. But the keel was down and the cable gone, and there was two inches of barnacles on the hull and up in the center board trunk.
I had it hauled out and scraped to find the hull in pretty good shape. of course alkl running rigging has to be replaaced but the interior and standing rigging all good. The boat was originally orande and white. Now it's off white hull with navy blue bottom and stripe, with burgundy boot stripe.
So be of good cheer, you have a stout boat there that performs great, and has tons of room. A lot of elbow grease and a few bucks and she'll look great!
I just put in a new winch and cable for the keel. Any time you want you can drive over and check every thing out. Do you have a trailer for it?
If your interested I can send you info on the all aluminum trailer I had made for mine. I like to trailer over there and sail to marker 21.
E-mail me and I can give you my phone number. Let's go sailing!!!!
Till then, Tom in Tampa clm26
