I use to tarp her off but now I just let her ride out the winter and then gelcoat restore her in spring. I only have a little leak thru that vent but not much. I live in an airrid desert so that might have some to do with my dry conditions. When I was in WYO and COLO I tarped her off but the snow would pile on that and then I couldn't get into the boat. I am pretty hard on gusto and know from 15yrs of owning her that these boats are tuff. My friend Larrel also just leaves his out in the winter. We sail them in some pretty nasty conditions on Pyramid Lake. Thats an inland ocean surounded by moutains with strange winds and big waves. I've snapped my rutter and broke my keel wire. Had to sea anchor off and ride out storms. Larrel had to tow me to shore with his cm23 when my moter dies in a storm. His stays have snapped. Through all this our boats have stayed strong and sailable.
