Yes, so far the Sta-set has performed as expected. The key was eliminating any chafing of the line by orienting the bow roller exactly above the tube. When the line is loose and the keel is extended, the line swells and seals the hole. It is still bigger that wire cable even when taught. No more meat hooks on the hands. The StaSet has the same or better capacity than 1/8" SS cable. I use a "double Bowline" when tying the knot on the keel then sew using waxed sail repair twine the bitter end to the line as well. If there is any chafing, it will not work, you will have trouble. The outer covering is more for protection of the inner core, but it will bunch up and become a problem if it wears. So far I have about 50 raise-lowers on this setup and have used Sta-set for about 3 years with varying success until the recent design. I couldn't be happier. I will be examining it soon. I found a way to back the boat off the trailer at the boat ramp just enough that allows me to drop the keel with enough room to tie a knot if needed while still on the trailer. Just measure the distance between the back of the keel to the aft beam on the trailer, float it and back the boat up just short of that distance then bring the trailer out of the water and drop the keel on the pavement. BIG wheel chocks on both wheels on each side. Good luck.
