I have always thought Gel-coating and confusion went hand-in-hand! I've started working on my boat in hopes of having it in the water in a couple of weeks. I also am doing my bottom. Will paint under the water line with a Marine paint/Rustoleum combo I fixed up. I will use finishing resin and spray the upper surfaces. Hopefully! I spray tubs and showers, etc. Gel coating requires either an air inhibiting wax added which rises or covering the surface with plastic. Either way you are looking at sanding and polishing. Finishing resin dries hard to the touch, is glossy and can be tinted any color. I have started a blog for the work on the boat but don't have to many pics on there yet. Good luck on all of your repairs!
