Since I am a big believer in what goes up, must come down, I also support the idea that if a boat goes out, it eventually comes back in....at least most of the time. With that in mind, I want to pick up a GPS/depth finder. What is a reasonably priced, reliable and power efficient system? I'll be sailing fairly close to the coast of Louisiana with a few runs out to the Gulf. Charting is important in that I'll be scooting around all sorts of underwater hazards.
I've been surfing the web and the choices have me boggled. I don't want to spend a bundle, but don't want to fight for peace of mind either.
Recommendations?
