Don is working on passage to Costa Rica.
My Sailing forays (very limited experience at best) along that coast from Mulege down to La Paz and back on a couple different occasions, all done in May proved to have the wind on my nose every leg in both directions (at least it felt that way).
With the exception of riding the Corumuel winds out of La Paz heading north nothing seemed to be predictable or consistent during that time of year.
I have been told that May is a tough month due to the transition of predominent winds out of the north swinging to the south. I have had good days sailing south with winds out of the north, and vice versa, or no wind at all (the most consistent wind action of all) all within a few weeks/days of each other.
Consider it like lake sailing as far as any consistency is concerned. It all works well if you don't have any schedule to stick to.
