Thanks for the consejos, Tom. Ive always wondered about the currents out there but never heard first hand any thing definite about the fast water. The only kayaker Ive talked to who has made the crossing is ed gillette who told me no problem but I've since learned he is a bit of an extreme kayaker. My fully loaded 18 ft canoe does 6 knots with 2 paddlers going full out. we can keep this pace for 2 hours easy, additionally Ive paddled from bahia de Los Angeles through all sorts of sea conditions over the course of 4 different trips. Maybe it is crazy, but I'm intrigued by the Ray Cannon ledgend of the vagabundos del mar who did it in much less sea worthy boats,. Additionally I'm trying to line up my brother with his 25 foot woodridge deep water hull fishing boat to be my chase boat, alittle less adventuous but god insurance dave
