The last time I traveled to San Carlos, as always, I ended up paying for car insurance for the entire 14 days I was in Mexico. That was even though I really only used the vehicle for the few hours to drive from the USA and back. The rest of the time the car simply sat, gathering dust, in the Marina's parking lot...while I sailed over to the Baja side for some fun in the sun activities.
My questions are:
Is that what you other sailor's are doing during the time you are out sailing....or do some of you only obtain vehicle insurance for the day you travel in and the day you travel out...?
If you leave the car "uninsured", while it is just sitting and not being used, do you simply leave it unattended in the parking lot for the days you are out sailing ...or are you paying for "gated and patrolled" storage at Safe Marina or some other place..??
What are you paying for that "gated and patrolled" parking / storage and where was it...?
Do any of you have any other comments, suggestions, observations, cautions or advice on how to save a bit of that green stuff...but still position yourself to still minimize your risks.... when it comes to vehicle and boat trailer insurance while down there...?
