Apperently there is some confusion about the car permit in mexico among their law enforcement people and US travelers. As best as it can be understood, if you enter in Nogie and continue on Hwy 15 to Guaymas/San carlos you are ok (no vehicle permit is needed-but you will always need your personal visa). But if you enter at another crossing--ie, douglas, sonita, or other crossings in Sonora, you are required to have the All mexico permit. If you travel to other areas in Sonora other than those on or near Hwy 15, then you will need a All Mexico permit. Welcome to Mexico--Nothing is as it seems. Still, You will enjoy your trip as long as you can figure out what is needed to comply with their laws. I have over 40 years in Mexico and 15 years in Guaymas. Always error on the side of safety. In either case you most likely will be extreamly satisfied with your visit to Mexico. PS-if you notice mis spelling keep it to your self!!! As long as you understand what I said then you get the point..
