Rented Truck to S'Carlos?

Oh, no, not another border discussion??!! Well, here goes: We plan to apply for FM-3's and then bring a truckload of household goods and furniture (nothing new) over the Nogales border to San Carlos sometime this year. We don't own a large enough vehicle, so we were thinking of renting a truck but have been told we have to show ownership of any vehicle we're driving at the border. Is this still true? How do others bring their stuff down, other than in bits and pieces? Should we inventory it all first and bring a list?
